Bruno Fernandes has named Francisco Ramos as the star he would most like to join him at Old Trafford following his flying start as a Man United player.
The pair have escalated through the Portuguese youth ranks together, though Ramos is yet to be capped by the senior side.
Ramos is currently out on loan at Santa Clara from fellow Primeira Liga side Vitoria Guimaraes.
The 25-year-old has often paired with Fernandes in central midfield at international youth level, and now Fernandes has suggested he wants to be reacquainted with his old teammate at United.
Asked on an Instagram Q&A to pick one player to have alongside him throughout his career, Fernandes said: "It is very difficult to choose, because I have a lot of people in the dressing room who are my friend. Wherever I played… Francisco Ramos."
Santa Clara have been performing well this season, and currently sit ninth in the table.
Ramos has been ever-present, making 21 appearances across the campaign, though there is no suggestion his form will earn him a move to Manchester anytime soon.
United have been busy planning their transfer activity for the summer, and have already identified 16-year-old Jude Bellingham as a midfield target.
They also remain linked with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, Tottenham striker Harry Kane, and Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish.
But whoever United sign, Fernandes has demanded a simple requirement from each player.
"We already have a big team, but whoever comes needs to come to win. Just to focus to win, I want people hungry for titles and everything," Fernandes said previously.
