Frank Lampard has been provided a huge boost as the Chelsea boss confirmed Christian Pulisic is in line to make his first appearance of the season. The American has missed the opening weeks of the campaign after suffering a hamstring injury in last season’s FA Cup final.
Pulisic did return in pre-season, but suffered another set back in training ahead of the Premier League restart.
Lampard hasn’t been able to call upon his full array of attacking talents in the early weeks of the season, but that could be moving closer after Pulisic’s recovery.
Chelsea face Crystal Palace this weekend, looking for their first win since the opening day of their Premier League campaign.
Last time out, they were forced to settle for a point against West Brom, coming from 3-0 down to earn a 3-3 draw.

But the Chelsea boss has confirmed that Pulisic is in line to give his side a real boost in the arm.
“Pulisic is in the squad for tomorrow,” Lampard confirmed. “He won’t start, it’s great to have him back. “
Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech is closing in on his competitive Chelsea debut, but that now looks set to come after the international break as he continues his recovery from an injury picked up in pre-season.
On Ziyech, Lampard said: “Ziyech is getting closer but not close enough to be on the bench.”

Along with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, Ziyech and Pulisic give Lampard his full compliment of forward players.
There have been questions as to how the Blues boss will fit all of his stars in, but he is confident they will all help each other to settle in.
“I think they will all bring the best out of each other,” he added.
“It’s a shame we haven’t had them. Hakim will bring something completely different for us. I am very excited to have them fit. I have a clear idea of where I want them to play.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to be active in the final days of transfer window. But after spending more than £200million on outgoings, it is likely much of the focus will be on outgoings.
A number of Chelsea’s fringe players could depart the club, although Lampard refused to comment on rumours ahead of a crucial game with Roy Hodgson’s side.
He said: “I wouldn’t call it thinning out the squad, we have a big squad. I won’t get speculation on the window. I just want to focus on the game tomorrow.
“With every player in the squad, I will take things into consideration. It’s one we will broach player by player. Once it shuts every player here will be used because it is a long season.”
