Chelsea higher-ups ‘suddenly drop’ Blues icon Pat Nevin from all media duties

Chelsea icon Pat Nevin has been suddenly dropped from all media duties at the club. The former winger will no longer write for the Blues website or match-day programme and hasn’t been asked to co-commentate on any matches this season.

Nevin spent five years as a player at Chelsea between 1983 and 1988. He helped the club win the second division in his first season at Stamford Bridge and made 242 appearances in total.

He has worked as an analyst for the last 13 years, providing columns online and in the programme. The Telegraph claims he was not told over the summer whether he would be needed for the 2023/24 season.

However, Nevin eventually received communication from ‘higher up’ that it had been decided he was no longer required. He is yet to receive any word on his co-commentary duties but hasn’t been asked to work on any matches this season so presumes he has also lost that role.

Nevin has no hard feelings, telling The Telegraph: “There are no bad feelings, you just shrug your shoulders and move on. A few people have told me I should be angry about the way I found out, but that’s not me. I’ve never really been like that.

“I’ve got no high expectations just because I played for the club or anything like that. You do a job and then you don’t.”
