Chelsea are leading the race to sign Manchester City star Sergio Aguero on a free transfer this summer, according to reports. Thomas Tuchel has seen the likes of Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham blow hot and cold this season. And, consequently, he’s determined to recruit a new centre-forward at the end of the season.
Chelsea have done well ever since Tuchel’s appointment, with the club losing just once under the German so far.
And they’re looking to bolster their ranks in the summer transfer window, determined to give the former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund manager the best possible chance of succeeding.
Chelsea would love to sign Erling Haaland but know landing the Norway international won’t be easy given the amount of clubs also eyeing a deal.
And, now, the Daily Mail say the Blues are ‘leading the race’ to sign Aguero at the end of the campaign.
It’s claimed the Manchester City star is determined to stay in the Premier League, meaning moves to Real Madrid or Barcelona currently appear unlikely.
He’s been linked with Manchester United but they’re said to not be in the picture at the current moment in time.

Furthermore, Aguero doesn’t want to ruin his relationship with City fans by making a devastating move to Old Trafford.
Liverpool have the financial resources to meet Aguero’s huge £13million-a-year salary demands but they, too, have other priorities for the time being.
Chelsea are said to be determined to sign a new forward to aid Werner, who has scored just five goals in the Premier League following his summer switch.
And the 32-year-old could be their next signing if all goes to plan.
As for City, and they currently have three replacements for the Argentina international in mind.
Haaland tops their wishlist, with the Dortmund star scoring a remarkable 31 goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League combined this term.

Andre Silva is also under consideration amid his fine showings for Eintracht Frankfurt, having scored 21 goals from 24 Bundesliga games.
And also on their radar is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, who could be sold by the Serie A giants to balance the books financially in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
Meanwhile, Aguero announced his decision to leave City earlier this month.
He said: “When a cycle comes to an end, may sensations arise.
“A huge sense of satisfaction and pride remains in me for having played with Manchester City for a whole ten seasons – unusual for a professional player in this day and age.
“Ten seasons with major achievements, throughout which I was able to become the top historic goalscorer and forging an indestructible bond with all those who love this club – people who will always be in my heart.
“I was to join during the reconstruction era of 2011, and with the guidance of the owners and the contributions of many players, we earned a place among the greatest in the world.
“The task to maintain this well-deserved privileged position will remain on others.
“As for myself, I will continue to give it my utmost for the rest of the season to win more titles and bring more joy to the fans.
“Then, a new stage with new challenges will begin and I am fully ready to face them with the same passion and professionalism that I have always dedicated to continue competing at the highest level.”
Pep Guardiola has claimed Aguero is ‘irreplaceable’.
“We have still two months ahead, and today I saw the training session how brilliant he was and his commitment,” said Guardiola.
“Sergio is irreplaceable. I could say in terms of numbers he can be replaceable, it’s not easy when you see more than 360 games played and more than 250 goals, the amount of titles…
“So it’s the legend, the best striker this club has ever had for this century through the years, but is irreplaceable in the souls, in the hearts, in the minds of our fans, of our people, of the players that played alongside him and all the managers who worked with him.
“He’s a fantastic person, a human being, and I’m pretty sure if his mind is still aggressive like he is, he can extend his career longer and longer than maybe two or three or four or five years.”
