Chelsea release strong Kai Havertz transfer statement on Marina Granovskaia negotiations
Chelsea want to add Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz to their ranks this summer as the club look to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City. The Blues have already added Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to their squad and will be looking to do plenty more business.
Chelsea secured Champions League qualification on the final day of the Premier League season and will look to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.
But the Blues have moved to deny that transfer supremo Marina Granovskaia has been acting unprofessionally in trying to secure a deal for Havertz.
Rumours claim she has been speaking to contacts in Germany trying to work out the weak points in Leverkusen’s setup.
Chelsea have issued a strong statement in defence of Roman Abramovich’s chief transfer negotiator.
“We vigorously deny these suggestions; these claims are a complete fabrication,” a Chelsea spokesman told the Press Association.

Granovskaia oversees transfer negotiations at Stamford Bridge and has a reputation as one of the most powerful women in the sport.
Stamford Bridge bosses are said to be frustrated with the accusations surrounding the Havertz deal.
The Leverkusen midfielder was impressive this season, netting 17 goals and providing nine assists in all competitions.
Havertz wants a move to Chelsea with Leverkusen’s steep £70million asking price holding up the deal at present.

The Blues are also in the market for a left-back with Leicester ace Ben Chilwell the top target for the position.
Lampard has a decision to make on his goalkeeper too with Kepa Arrizabalaga struggling at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been linked with Manchester United’s Dean Henderson, Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak and Ajax ace Andre Onana.
Jermaine Jenas thinks the Blues can challenge for the Premier League title if they sign a centre-back this summer.
“If they can bring in a top centre-half I think they can challenge Man City and Liverpool for the title with the players they have,” Jenas told Football London.

“But if they don’t do something defensively they will just be battling it out for the top four again with the rest of them.
“You can’t go through a whole season as a team like Chelsea only keeping one clean sheet away from home and expect to challenge for titles. It’s just not going to happen.
“Frank [Lampard] has got Chelsea into an FA Cup final, the top four this season and a decent run in the Champions League and I don’t think anybody expected that in his first year.
“With the players he’s going to bring in I think they can push at the top end and they’ll probably fall off at the turn of the year and finish in the top four comfortably. It will be a strong year for them next year.”
