Chelsea are reportedly looking to finalise a deal for Kai Havertz within the next 10 days in order to avoid the possibility of missing out on the German international. Bayer Leverkusen are due to return to pre-season training on August 28 and the Blues are keen to complete the signing of their top transfer target before then.
Chelsea are currently overhauling their squad ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to significantly bolster their attack.
Havertz is next on the list of transfer targets, with the 21-year-old having scored 18 goals and provided nine assists across all competitions last term.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are both interested in Havertz but cannot afford to pay £90m on a new signing right now.
The European giants will return for Havertz next summer if he remains at Leverkusen, making it imperative that Chelsea get the job done quickly.
The Stamford Bridge side are reportedly pushing for an agreement before Leverkusen return to pre-season training in less than a fortnight.
This is because a delay would disrupt both clubs’ preparations for the new campaign while an injury could scupper any transfer plans.

Ben Chilwell is the leading candidate on the left side of defence but Leicester could demand as much as £80m for the England international.
Sergio Reguilon and Nicolas Tagliafcio are just two of several more affordable options the Blues could consider, while Andre Onana, Nick Pope and Ben Foster are all alternatives to Kepa Arrizabalaga between the posts.
Meanwhile, Lampard is keen on signing Declan Rice and converting the West Ham midfielder into a central defender but Lewis Dunk has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
