Chelsea starter requests transfer exit as Liverpool face another kick in teeth

Pochettino offers update on Chelsea's pursuit of Caicedo

Manchester City kicked off the Premier League season with a comfortable win over Burnley on Friday night. The game at Turf Moor served as a brief distraction to one of the wildest days of the summer transfer window so far with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham taking centre stage.

Erling Haaland was back to his old tricks against the Clarets, netting twice as Rodri grabbed the third in a 3-0 win. During the game, senior figures at Chelsea and Liverpool were working frantically behind the scenes in the battle for Moises Caicedo.

The same two clubs are also fighting it out for fellow midfielder Romeo Lavia, although the Blues look set to win on both fronts. Meanwhile, Tottenham captain Harry Kane is in Germany finalising a blockbuster move to Bayern Munich, and he could be in action as early as Saturday.

Liverpool face ultimate kick in teeth

Liverpool will be frustrated enough if they miss out on Moises Caicedo after agreeing a fee with Brighton.

Chelsea have stormed in with a £115million offer which looks set to get the deal done, given that Caicedo has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge.

And according to reports, Chelsea want to rub salt in Liverpool wounds by unveiling the Ecuadorian to home fans on Sunday – when the Reds are in town for their Premier League clash.

Chelsea starter requests exit

Chelsea ace Kepa Arrizabalaga has asked to leave the club for Bayern Munich, according to Sky Germany.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed in a press conference on Friday that Kepa would likely be his starting goalkeeper for the season ahead.

But the Spaniard is still keen to join Bayern, who are in need of a new face between the sticks due to Manuel Neuer’s continued injury woes.

Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton in a £25m deal earlier this summer.
