Chelsea target Jules Kounde is forcing the issue in an attempt to complete a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Sevilla defender has attracted interest from a host of European clubs this summer and has now taken a drastic step in forcing a move.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has already bolstered his Champions League winning squad with the return of striker Romelu Lukaku in a mega deal.
But the German is not content with the solitary marquee signing as he plans to claim the Premier League title this season.
Tuchel is said to want a central defender ahead of the imminent sale of Kurt Zouma and Kounde represents one of the most talented in his position.
Chelsea to miss out on Saul Niguez transfer with Atletico Madrid confident of stay
In a promising update for Chelsea fans, Kounde was left out of Sevilla's squad to face Elche in La Liga.
Diario de Sevilla report Kounde's absence is due to the 22-year-old travelling to France early for the international break.
Kounde is part of Didier Deschamps' French squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, and it is claimed the youngster has left Spain early to put pressure on Sevilla to accept a transfer.
Chelsea have already had a €50million (£42m) bid rejected for Kounde, but it is believed that a solution could be found between the two clubs.
And Tuchel admitted before Saturday's Anfield visit to face Liverpool that the Blues were 'trying' to make something happen before the transfer deadline.

"Well we are hoping; we still have some ideas and we are trying," he said.
"And not all decisions are taken regarding also to our squad. So there are some negotiations going on and we are aware of all the situations.
"Hoping as in meaning that we need something to make the coach happy or to be competitive? Absolutely not.
"Because I'm happy with the squad as it is, and I have a lot of confidence we are absolutely competitive on a high level.
"But still all eyes are open, and we are aware of all situations and you never know in football."
