Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will want summer transfer backing from Marina Granovskaia in the wake of his side’s 5-2 defeat to West Brom on Saturday. While the Blues have been in fine form since the German’s appointment, they were brought crashing back down to earth at Stamford Bridge. So Express Sport will now take a look at four players the Blues could target in the wake of that loss on home soil.
While Chelsea have seen Edouard Mendy do well since his summer move from Rennes, the shot-stopper still has much to prove.
He wasn’t at fault for any of West Brom’s goals on Saturday but hasn’t exactly set the world alight since his summer move.
Chelsea are still likely to try and get rid of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who continues to warm the bench just like he did under Frank Lampard.
And Gianluigi Donnarumma, therefore, may be pursued.
The AC Milan star is likely to leave the San Siro on a free transfer and Chelsea have been named as potential admirers of the Italy international, who probably won’t be short of suitors.

Chelsea saw Thiago Silva dismissed before the half hour in their defeat to West Brom.
And that’s made it clear the Blues require a long-term replacement for the Brazil international, who is evidently reaching the end of his long and successful career.
One name in the frame is Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule.
The powerhouse could be allowed to leave the Allianz Arena when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.
And Chelsea may position themselves to snap him up, with Tuchel determined to raid the Bundesliga for more talent this season.

Sule isn’t the only Bayern Munich player who could join Chelsea.
The Blues also remain in the hunt for David Alaba, who has already announced his decision to quit the Bundesliga giants come the summer.
Alaba is being tracked by Real Madrid and Barcelona but a move to Stamford Bridge could appeal.
Roman Abramovich has a special relationship with the Austria international’s agent, Pini Zahavi, who has been snapped at Stamford Bridge in the past.
Therefore, he’s another player who could be wearing blue next term.
Everybody wants to sign Erling Haaland.
No club on the planet would decline the chance to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker, who has scored 31 goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League combined this term.
And with Chelsea seeing Timo Werner toil against West Brom in the No 9 role, Haaland may now be deemed a priority.
Securing his signature certainly won’t be straightforward with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City all in the mix.
But Chelsea’s need is arguably greatest, especially with the futures of Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham up in the air.
Tuchel speaks out
Chelsea boss Tuchel spoke out after his side’s defeat to West Brom, urging his side to learn from the game.
“After the red card we were not able to cope with the situation,” he told BT Sport.
“I don’t know why but it was like this. We gave away very easy goals just before half-time. But in the second half, what could go wrong went wrong and we have to accept a big loss today.
“Hopefully it’s a big-wake up call for all of us, me included. We will get the right response because this is sport and this is absolutely necessary.
“First of all, it’s important we digest it, because it’s a lot to digest. I did not see it coming. Now we have to take our responsibilities – me included – and shake it off and continue tomorrow.”
