Chelsea’s returning World Cup stars Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz are back in training at Cobham… as the Blues prepare for the return of the Premier League season on Boxing Day

Chelsea stars coming back from the World Cup have now joined up with their team-mates at Cobham.

Several stars including Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz were pictured in action at the club’s Surrey training ground on Wednesday.

Graham Potter’s side are preparing for the return of the Premier League season on Boxing Day.

A total of 15 players on Chelsea’s books travelled to the Qatar tournament, with Morocco star Hakim Ziyech in action in the semi-final against France on Wednesday evening.

Senegal duo Koulibaly and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, USA winger Pulisic and Germany forward Havertz were all snapped getting back down to work at Cobham after their exploits in the Middle East.

The Lions of Teranga and USA were knocked out at the last-16 stage, while Germany failed to make it out of their group. Croatia’s Mateo Kovacic, knocked out by Argentina at the semi-final stage on Tuesday night, is yet to return. 

Defender Reece James, who missed the World Cup with injury, is now back in training as well

The Blues, eighth in the table, face Bournemouth in their first game back on December 27

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta (Spain), England midfielders Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher (England), Ethan Ampadu (Wales), Brazil skipper Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling (England), Switzerland’s Denis Zakaria were also among those in Qatar.

Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku and Ghana’s Baba Rahman, who represented their countries at the competition, are on loan away from Stamford Bridge.

Potter’s men, who currently lie eighth in the Premier League table, eight points off the Champions League places, face Bournemouth in their first game after the break on Tuesday, December 27.
