Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger says his ‘family feel great in London’, as talks over a new deal continue.

Rudiger, 28, is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs after entering the final six months of his contract.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is keen for his star centre back to remain at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munch and Juventus all keen to secure his services.

It is understood the Germany international is not in any hurry to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club abroad, but he is aware of the interest.

‘Like always, I’m fully committed to the cause’, Rudiger told Sky Sports.

‘Talks are between my side and the club, and that’s everything you need to know.’

The former Roma defender, who joined Chelsea in July 2017 and went on to win the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League, was asked if he could move elsewhere.

‘You have to think about your family. My kids were born here in London so that tells you that my family feel great here.

‘The rest is up to other people to make decisions and then we will see if we come together or not.’

Rudiger is hopeful both himself and the club can come to an agreement, but he is only prepared to put pen to paper should he receive a fee what he believes is the right.

The European champions would have to make him the highest-paid defender in the Premier League if they are to keep him.

Chelsea had previously offered him a new contract at the start of the current campaign, but that was rebuffed by him and his representatives, as Tuchel’s side were only prepared to pay him half of what some of clubs top earners get paid.

Rudiger still believes his future lies in London, and says it is ‘easy’ to remain committed to his current side for the rest of his contract.

‘Yes, I find it easy to do. I’m not just saying words, I’m fully committed to the cause. I think I’ve always shown that.

‘There were worse times than this so that’s why for me I’ve found it easy to deal with. I’m focused on what is happening here and on the pitch.

‘I owe it to everyone here around the club, the coach, my team-mates and my family so that’s why I’m only focused about the important things.

‘The other things are speculation – I cannot say anything about that’, he added.
