Real Madrid’s Thibault Courtois has admitted he doesn’t want to face either of the remaining English sides in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side saw off Liverpool with a 1-0 win in their last 16 clash on Wednesday after a 5-2 hammering in the first leg gave the Reds little chance of a comeback.
Tottenham are also out of the tournament after losing 1-0 on aggregate to AC Milan, while Chelsea knocked out Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City thrashed RB Leipzig 7-0 in their second leg, with Erling Haaland bagging five goals.
The other sides left in the tournament are Bayern Munich, Benfica, AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Courtois, who won two Premier League titles with Chelsea, wants to avoid both City and his former side in the next round having played both in last year’s edition.

His Real Madrid side beat Chelsea in dramatic fashion in last season’s quarter final
‘I would like to change a bit,’ he said, ‘last year we already faced City and Chelsea, let’s see if we play other teams this year.
‘Last year we made it clear what character we have in the team, with comebacks, we earn respect, we show that Real Madrid is always there.’
Los Blancos produced remarkable ties against both English sides last season.
The Quarter final looked straightforward after a Karim Benzema hattrick put Real 3-1 up in the away leg, but an inspired Chelsea fightback took tie tie to extra time at the Bernabeu. Benzema provided the winning goal after 96 minutes.
The Frenchman was equally important in the semi final against City, scoring three goals across the two legs, including a 95th minute penalty, to send Real into the final.
He also spoke of avoiding City after Erling Haaland put five goals past RB Liepzig on Tuesday
Carlo Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League four times, wants to face his old Milan side in the final
For four-time Champions League winner Ancelotti, the focus was on facing a former side of his in the final.
‘To be honest, the ideal would be for us to meet Milan in the final in Istanbul,’ he told Sky Sports Italia, ‘but there is a long way to go.’
Ancelotti won two UCL titles with his legendary Milan side in 2003 and 2007, before adding two more across two spells at Real.
He also famously lost the 2005 final in Istanbul to Liverpool, who fought back to win on penalties after going 3-0 down to Milan.
The 63-year-old continued: ‘Napoli are doing very well, they are dominating Serie A and can therefore concentrate entirely on the Champions League.
‘All the potential opponents in the quarter final are dangerous, it will be a real battle.’
The draw for the tournament’s last eight will take place on Friday.
