Cristiano Ronaldo ‘is left OUT of Man United’s travelling squad to face Fulham as the forward struggles with illness’ after the Portugal star also missed their Carabao Cup over Aston Villa in midweek
- Cristiano Ronaldo has not travelled to London for Man Utd’s clash with Fulham
- The 37-year-old missed the midweek cup win over Aston Villa through illness
- The Portuguese star has scored just three goals for Man Utd so far this season
Cristiano Ronaldo is not part of the Manchester United squad that has travelled to London for Sunday’s Premier League game against Fulham.
The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Ronaldo was not part of United’s travelling party to the capital, after he was absent from the club’s Carrington training ground on Saturday.
The Portuguese star missed United’s 4-2 Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa on Thursday with illness, and it appears that Ronaldo will play no part in proceedings at Craven Cottage.
Ronaldo will play no part in Man Utd’s game against Fulham on Sunday down to illness
The 37-year-old has started each of the last four matches before the cup win over Villa, and was expected to be rested for the game regardless.
After the game United gaffer Erik ten Hag was unsure if Ronaldo would be available for the weekend’s action, but was confident he would make the Fulham trip.
The Dutchman said: ‘I can’t guarantee that now [that he will return at Fulham] but he was ill today, he can recover from that. It’s not a really serious illness that takes days or weeks, so I think it’s possible he will be available for Sunday and in the squad.’
His absence from Sunday’s Premier League clash will be the first game Ronaldo has missed since he was recalled to the United squad after being banished for his walkout in the win over Spurs last month.
Erik ten Hag was confident Ronaldo would play against Fulham but he hasn’t travelled with the squad to Old Trafford
Ronaldo has endured a stop-start campaign at Old Trafford so far this season, and only managed to notch three goals for the club in 16 appearances. With only four starts coming in the Premier League.
It means Ronaldo will not play for the Red Devils again until after this month’s World Cup and upon his return rumours will once again surround United’s number seven, ahead of the January transfer window.
He has been included in Portugal’s squad for this month’s tournament and is expected to play a leading role once again in their campaign in Qatar.
