Cristiano Ronaldo has delighted in winning yet another award after the Juventus star was belatedly handed the Player of the Year award for his displays in the 2019-20 campaign.
Last season’s award ceremony was delayed owing to the coronavirus pandemic, but the prizes have finally been given out with Juventus scooping the biggest awards voted for by a panel of players, coaches, referees, and journalists.
And, unsurprisingly, there was only one real candidate for the Player of the Year award, with the Portuguese sensation bagging an incredible 37 times in 46 games in all competitions to help guide the Old Lady to their ninth-successive Scudetto.

31 of those strikes came in the league, with Ronaldo’s gravity-defying header against Sampdoria one that will live long in the memory.
It is the second time Ronaldo has won the prize since moving from Real Madrid in 2018, and the 36-year-old took to Instagram to dedicate the award to unsung heroes at Juventus.
‘I could not have been happier and more proud of the Player of the Year distinction obtained for the second time since I arrived in Italy,’ he said on Saturday.

‘Thank you very much for this recognition to the Italian Footballers’ Association, Juventus, my teammates and our fans.
‘However, allow me today to dedicate this award to all those unknown to the general public who work daily to make Juventus one of the greatest clubs in the world.
‘Behind our collective glory and our individual triumphs, there is always a huge entourage of professionals who give their all so that we don’t lack for anything.
‘Today my thanks go to these less visible but nonetheless important faces for our successes. They are true heroes.
‘Finally, I would like to promise the whole Juventus universe that we will continue to work until the last day because we can still, all together, have reasons to celebrate this season.

Meanwhile, Cristiana Girelli picked up the top prize for her performances for Juve’s women’s team after netting 16 goals in 16 games during the halted season.
Ronaldo was joined by Paulo Dybala Leonardo Bonucci in the men’s Team of the Year, while Girelli was accompanied by five team-mates in the women’s side.
Juve have a lot of work to do to defend their crown and win a sensational 10th-straight league title this season. Andrea Pirlo’s side are 10 points behind league leaders Inter, and were eliminated from the Champions League by Porto in the round of 16.
