Cristiano Ronaldo insists Manchester United’s players must take the blame for their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s players were booed off at half time as Liverpool sealed an emphatic victory at Old Trafford.
Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick, while Naby Keita and Diogo Jota also found the net for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Ronaldo had another game to forget as United struggled to create many chances against Liverpool.
The result has left United with three defeats in their last four Premier League games, and Ronaldo has called on his teammates to improve their performances.
‘Sometimes the result is not the one we fight for,’ Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
‘Sometimes the score is not the one we want. And this is on us, only on us, because there’s no one else to blame.
‘Our fans were, once again, amazing in their constant support. They deserve better than this, much better, and it’s up to us to deliver. The time is now!’
Meanwhile, United goalkeeper David De Gea believes Sunday’s display against Liverpool should not be tolerated.
‘I feel the pain of our supporters, you give the team everything and we must do the same,’ De Gea wrote on Instagram.
‘I love this club and we will not accept this performance.’
