Danny Ings injury update after Southampton ace suffers knee issue vs Aston Villa

Southampton 's victory was marred by worrying knee injury to star striker Danny Ings.

The former Liverpool man who has a history of knee problems, limped out of the game and boss Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted he's praying it's not serious.

The striker will have a scan on Monday with Hasenhuttl concerned about the England hitman who has twice had long periods out following knee surgery

Hasenhuttl said: “It didn't look good. He's stretched his knee which is always dangerous. We're just hoping it's not too bad an injury. It's swollen and we won't really know anything until he's had the scan.”

Birthday boy James Ward-Prowse revealed he's been teaching his young son how to strike his trademark free kicks.

Ward-Prowse said: “It is nice to always get a couple of goals on your birthday. It is a great weekend – birthday, playing in the Premier League, scoring goals and I am living my boyhood dream so I am happy.

“I have been teaching my little boy them in the garden so the pressure has been not to hit the old man's greenhouse next door. He will be proud of those two for sure.

“We got a little bit complacent. When we are in winning positions it is how we manage those moments. That is the next step for us if we want to be successful.”
