Jack Grealish’s longtime links with Manchester United caused huge frustrations amongst the Old Trafford fanbase, when the Red Devils failed to land the Aston Villa star.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly placed him towards the top of his transfer wishlist in 2020, with Villa seemingly destined for the drop.
Depsite his side’s lowly status, the midfielder developed a reputation as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League.
Grealish would ultimately keep his side in the top-flight and has kicked on even further this time around with Dean Smith’s side knocking on the door of the top-six.
The 25-year-old has a staggering 17 goal contributions in just 19 league games this campaign, form that has forced West Ham boss David Moyes to declare him as the best player currently playing in England.
“He is a really good player and probably the best player in the Premier League at this time,” he said.
“He has done such a big job at that club and is probably the best player in the league right now.”
Solskjaer went public with his admiration of the player ahead of United’s 2-0 win over Villa during the festive period.
He said: “The goal he scored last season was a brilliant goal and we’ve faced him enough times to know it’s going to be a difficult game.
“He’s a player for Aston Villa and England who has only improved.”

And that was followed by United legend Rio Ferdinand claiming Solskjaer should make a move for the England international, whether Paul Pogba stays with the club or not.
“I don’t care if Pogba goes or not, Grealish is my man,” Ferdinand said at the start of the January window.
“He is one of those players that has looked at himself in the summer and thought, ‘Yes, I’ve done well last season, I’ve signed a new deal at my boyhood club, and I am going to go again’.
“If I am a manager of a top team in England, a top three or four team, then I would not allow him to stay there, I would go and take him.”
