Decision to put just one match on Premier League Super Sunday explained
West Ham captain Zouma thanks Moyes for help on and off the pitch
Aston Villa host West Ham in the only Premier League game being broadcasted by Sky Sports as part of their Super Sunday coverage this weekend. Both teams have had a strong start to the season and will be looking to secure valuable points as they bid for European football next season.
Manchester United vs Sheffield United was expected to accompany the Villa Park clash on Sunday but the game has been brought forward a day and will now take place at 8pm on Saturday. The match was moved due to United’s Champions League commitments.
Erik ten Hag’s men take on FC Copenhagen in their third group-stage game on Tuesday and so will need more time to recover between games. The newly introduced 8pm Saturday kick-off time has been met with criticism from fans – particularly away supporters – who may struggle to find their way home on public transport late at night.
Although Sky Sports subscribers may feel short-changed on Sunday, Aston Villa vs West Ham promises to produce fireworks. The Villains head into this weekend in fifth place, just four points off Arsenal and Tottenham at the top of the table. Only Brighton and Newcastle have out-scored Unai Emery’s side so far this season.
Meanwhile, West Ham look like they are back to their best. Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek have undeniably clicked in the centre of the park while Jarrod Bowen is in the form of his life.
The Englishman has scored five goals and assisted one in his opening eight games – and appears to be enjoying life at Upton Park. “We’ve got results in the way we play,” the forward told club media last month. “Since I’ve been here, the manager has had the same philosophy and it has worked for us so well. You don’t need to fix something that isn’t broken.

“I want to score goals,” he continued. “I love putting in those hard yards and then scoring a goal… You might only get that ball once in a game but it’s about putting it in the back of the net if that ball does come.
“I enjoy playing this system. I think it suits my football a lot because I think I can do a really good job for the team even without the ball. Going forward, I also think I can bring my qualities to the team too.”
