Rob Holding has been labelled "dumb" after being sent off for two yellow cards inside 33 minutes for Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Arsenal defender was given his marching orders by referee Paul Tierney after being shown a second yellow card for lashing out at Heung-Min Son with an elbow. His dismissal came sandwiched between a brace from Harry Kane which left the Gunners trailing their arch-rivals in a crucial match in the race for Champions League football.
Fans and pundits immediately criticised Holding's decision making after his moment of madness left Arsenal facing almost an hour with 10 men.
Commentator Gary Neville immediately reacted with: “What is he doing? Oh my goodness. I am watching the run and I think he has a jab with his elbow. He is saying it is a shoulder but it is madness from Holding. He has been erratic, he has been rash, and he is off.”
Arsenal supporters were also quick to react to the incident on social media, with one tweeting: "Holding is dumb af, man had that coming since the first min. Get out of here man, what a bum."
Another added: "Funny thing is that Son got away with two elbows on Holding. Holding dumb enough to get caught."

A third also wrote: "How thick is Rob Holding actually? Like he's really f***ing beyond dumb." Whilst another simply tweeted: "Rob Holding cost us this game."
Prior to Thursday night's match, Holding had yet to be sent off for Arsenal in his previous 136 appearances for the club since arriving from Bolton Wanderers in 2016.
Mikel Arteta's side went into the North London Derby knowing a win would secure their place in next season's Champions League, after a five-year absence, at the expense of Spurs.
However, Harry Kane put Spurs in front in the 22nd minute from the penalty spot after Cedric Soares had been penalised for a foul on Son.
The England striker then doubled the hosts' lead four minutes after Holding was sent off, before Son made it 3-0 just minutes after the interval.
