England player ratings as Maguire, Sancho and Calvert-Lewin net in Ireland win

England made light work of the Republic of Ireland this evening, cruising to a 3-0 win over Stephen Kelly's side at Wembley.

It was a performance which saw Gareth Southgate's side hardly get out of first gear, controlling proceedings throughout.

Harry Maguire, wearing the armband, netted first – rising above Shane Duffy to head home in the first half.

Jadon Sancho made it two soon after, scoring a well-taken goal after being set up by Jack Grealish.

And Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it three, scoring from the spot in the second-half.

But who impressed for England this evening?

Nick POPE 6 – Little to do so little chance to impress. Question marks remain when the ball is at his feet.

Michael KEANE 7 – Looks more and more comfortable in an England shirt. Made huge strides

HARRY MAGUIRE 8 – Wore the captain’s armband, scored the opener and bossed his back three

TYRONE MINGS 7 – Important block in the first half from the Aston Villa man. Stuck to his duties

Reece JAMES 7 – Always a threat. England looked to use his pace and delivery as much as possible.

Harry WINKS 7 – It was his cross for the opener. Full range of passing on display

Mason MOUNT 7 – Asked to play in central midfield but did not look out of place at all. Industrious

Bukayo SAKA 7 – Got forward well, should have scored, and won a penalty. Breakthrough performance.

Jadon SANCHO 7 – Scored a belter and could have added to it. Picked up some great positions.

Dominic CALVERT-LEWIN 7 – Smashed home his penalty. A tireless runner. Worked so hard for the team.

Jack GREALISH 7 – Buzzed around picking passes and opening doors for his team-mates. Growing in stature.
