England have suffered another injury concern ahead of their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Lewis Dunk was selected in Gareth Southgate’s squad on Thursday as they finish their qualifying campaign off with games against Malta and North Macedonia.

The Brighton captain though went to ground towards the end of the first-half of their 2-0 Europa League victory in Amsterdam over Ajax.

Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi opted to make a change for the second-half and the centre-back was replaced by Igor due to an apparent groin injury.

Dunk played in friendly wins against Scotland and Australia in recent international breaks, though his injury against Ajax raises concern whether he will have to pull out of their upcoming squad.

Southgate will be hoping Dunk recovers in time after already seeing one of his selected squad members pull out of the squad on Thursday morning.

Tottenham confirmed that James Maddison has been withdrawn from the squad due to an ankle injury.

There would have been a good chance of Dunk playing in the upcoming games, with England already qualified for Euro 2024 after their 3-1 win over Italy last month.

Brighton also suffered injuries to James Milner and Pervis Estpuninan during the win in the Netherlands.

De Zerbi said after the game: ‘I think they are not so important injuries, I hope.

‘But anyway we have to find different solutions in terms of players because it is very tough this season.’

Southgate will keep a watching eye on whether Dunk is fit enough to play Sheffield United on Sunday.
