Erik Lamela scored a sensational rabona against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday as Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham took the lead before Martin Odegaard struck back.
The Argentina forward replicated his 2014 Europa League strike against Asteras by bringing his left leg behind his right and finding the bottom corner from inside the box.
The 29-year-old, who was initially brought in to help replace Gareth Bale in 2013, has shown only glimpses of his brilliance during that period, as he did on Sunday.
Twitter has erupted following the inspired decision to shoot in the method he did, and it could even be enough to claim the Premier League goal of the season award.
One fan wrote: “Goal of the season contender from Erik Lamela!”
With a second adding: “Lamela that has to be the goal of the season so far. RABONA FROM THAT ANGLE?!?!?”
A third continued: “Lamela scored the goal of the season #ARSTOT.”
With Gary Lineker then joking: "The thing about the Lamela goal is, it’s not even the best Rabona he’s scored."
Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison told BBC Sport: “I can't believe what I've just witnessed.
"It's one of the goals on the season.
“It is a superb, superb, top-quality finish. It is world class!”

"I've scored like that before, when I was playing in the junior sides at River Plate. It just happened in a flash." he told The Guardian in 2014.
"I wasn't thinking about doing something like that, I just wanted to score and it was the most effective, comfortable way of making it happen.
"It's something I'll always remember because it's something different from the other goals I've scored."
