Football fans were back on Wednesday evening following nine months of matches behind closed doors amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Stadiums located in Tiers 1 and 2 were able to have severely reduced capacities for the first time since March.
It was a packed night of action in the Football League with clashes across the Championship, League One, and League Two.
Clubs made sure they were ready by implementing some strict Covid-19 protocols, though most supporters were just glad to be back – regardless of their team’s result.
Charlton fan Graham Hefferman was one of the first fans to return to games in the country as he attended the League One clash with MK Dons.
And speaking of his return to the Valley, which ended 1-0 to the visitors, Hefferman said: “It was very slick, there were plenty of Covid safe protocols at the stadium.
“There was a one way system, hand sanitiser everywhere and we had to sit socially distanced.
“Everyone had their temperature checked when entering the ground with face masks to be worn throughout the game.

“The club had sent all fans with tickets a Covid secure video to watch, so we knew what to expect.
“At the end of the game, there were staggered exit times and it was all timed with TFL and Network Rail so there wasn’t as much waiting around for transport.
“It was also all worked closely with the Met Polica and we even got a free hot chocolate on arrival to warm up!”
