Fans ask if England can ‘sell’ Harry Maguire as defender continues to struggle

Harry Maguire has come under more scrutiny as he turns out for England despite being kept out the Manchester United team.

The centre-back has been far from his best in recent times and has fallen out of favour with the United faithful as well, with Varane and Martinez making sure he gets minimal minutes up north.

But as he starts his second game this week for his country, the 30-year-old couldn't help but get heaps of flack as he pulls on the Three Lions jersey.

After just half an hour against Ukraine, fans were quick to berate him, with some even asking whether he could be sold to another country for his sloppy passes and sluggish movement.

One simply tweeted: "Can England sell Maguire?"

One fan was baffled by Maguire's apparent inability to play a five-yard pass. "How does Maguire make two cross field balls to Saka and Walker look easy but routinely look uncomfortable with 5 yard passes across the back four and into midfield," wrote a supporter.

Another fan was ruthless in his analysis as they said: "It’s criminal that Maguire is still starting for England, he is a massive risk at the back that is going to result in goals, shouldn’t be anywhere near this team."

Although a lot of criticism was shared, some fans defended the player who boasts 54 caps for his country. "Its only Maguire making those long passes to the wing." tweeted a fan.
