Frank Lampard has revealed what he loves the most about Kai Havertz after he told him about his position in the Chelsea team.
It has been a summer-long pursuit for the Blues, who beat the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to his signature.
The midfielder becomes the sixth new player at Chelsea this summer after the arrivals of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr.
But none have brewed more excitement at Stamford Bridge than Havertz.
The German has been earmarked as a generational talent in his homeland.
While Lampard has admitted he has loved what the 21-year-old has told him about his position.
He said: “Kai with his qualities is flexible to play in different positions, I haven’t changed my view in a few days of seeing him.
“I think we can use his versatility. One of the pluses when I spoke to Kai is that he is very comfortable.
"He is not that ‘I want to play in this position, this is all I want’.
"He is potentially very happy to help the team, he can give us quality in different areas so it is not one that we have to nail down.”
Havertz has revealed he is over the moon to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
He said: "I am very happy and proud to be here.
"For me it is a dream come true to play in a big club like Chelsea and I can’t wait to meet all the players and the trainers.
"Yeah, I am very happy to be here!"
