Frenkie de Jong will only leave Barcelona for Chelsea this summer

Manchester United’s top target Frenkie de Jong ‘will only leave Barcelona for Chelsea’ and has ‘NO interest in a move to Old Trafford’… but LaLiga side are locked in a transfer war with the London club as they battle over three players

  • Frenkie De Jong would prefer a move to Chelsea over Man United this summer
  • The Barcelona midfielder has been pursued by United throughout the window
  • The 25-year-old has repeatedly made it clear he does not want to join United

Frenkie De Jong will reportedly only agree to leave Barcelona for Chelsea this summer, as he has no interest in joining Manchester United.

The 25-year-old has been pursued by United throughout the transfer window and a deal was actually agreed with the Catalan giants to bring him to Old Trafford.

However, the Holland international has repeatedly made it clear that he does not want to join the Red Devils, and even admitted in previous reports that he is ‘very grateful’ to his former boss Erik ten Hag for targeting him.

The former Ajax star is said to hold real concerns over how United function, with the player’s view said to be that it is run ‘erratically’ by management, and that deters him from wanting to link back up with his former boss.

Therefore he would only leave the LaLiga side for a move to Stamford Bridge, given the fact Chelsea do boast Champions League football, according to Sport.

He is also said to appreciate the ‘project’ and ‘structure’ that is being built under new controlling owner Todd Boehly.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are not willing to pay as much as Man Utd for the Holland international

The same report suggests that Thomas Tuchel’s side are not willing to pay as much as Man Utd for de Jong with Barcelona desperate to move him on if he doesn’t agree to lower his wages.

Although, they may not be keen to sell de Jong to the Blues with the two clubs currently locked in a transfer war.

Chelsea have moved to block Marcos Alonso’s transfer to Barca after the Catalan club snatched Jules Kounde from under their noses.

According to reports, the Blues are also reluctant to allow fellow defender Cesar Azpilicueta to complete his move to the Nou Camp in what is becoming an increasingly fractious and complicated set of negotiations.

It comes after Barcelona swooped for £55million Sevilla defender Kounde even after Chelsea had seen their offer accepted.

Spanish newspaper Diario Sport report that tensions between the two clubs have increased following the Kounde deal.

Chelsea believed they had secured the France international after Sevilla agreed to their £55m offer but Barcelona made their move to gazump them at the eleventh hour.

Barcelona are increasingly likely to snatch Jules Kounde away from Chelsea with a late swoop

Barca had pulled off a similar move to hijack Chelsea’s move to sign Raphinha from Leeds United earlier in the summer.

Chelsea came close to signing Kounde, 23, last summer and earlier in this window there was a strong belief in Spain that a move to Stamford Bridge was inevitable once the Todd Boehly takeover was completed.

However, the player’s preference is to join Barcelona and the club even briefly had his shirt name available for purchase on their online store. It was quickly deleted.

But Chelsea have reacted with anger and are reportedly willing to block the exits of Alonso and Azpilicueta to the Nou Camp.
