Chris Wilder ‘is in talks with Fulham’ over becoming the Championship club’s new manager.

The Craven Cottage club, relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, are searching for a new boss after Scott Parker left to join second-tier rivals Bournemouth on a three-year deal.

Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has been linked with the Fulham job but talkSPORT report that talks have also taken place with former Sheffield United boss Wilder.

Wilder, 53, left Bramall Lane back in March with the club sitting bottom of the Premier League table with just 14 points from 28 matches.

He had taken from League One into the Championship and then up into the Premier League during the 2018-19 season before guiding them to a wholly unexpected ninth place finish the following year.

Cooper, whose Swansea side lost last season’s Championship Play-off final to Brentford, has also been linked with the vacant manager’s role at Premier League Crystal Palace.

Wilder guided the Blades from League One into the Premier League but they struggled in their second season and were relegated back into the Championship

However, Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira is now set to take over at Selhurst Park and Cooper could be edged out by Wilder for the Fulham job too.

Fulham, Bournemouth and Sheffield United, now managed by ex-Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic, will be among the favourites to gain promotion in the upcoming Championship campaign.
