Gary Neville has ‘goalgasm’ as Salford City owner commentates on own team
It's not often owners get to commentate on their own teams' games, but Gary Neville became an exception to the rule on Tuesday.
The 'Class of 92' member is a co-owner of Salford City alongside other alumni like David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and brother Phil. And the former Manchester United team-mates had a vested interest as the Ammies took on Championship outfit Leeds in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Except Neville was even closer to the contest considering he was mic'd up for the melee and didn't disappoint in his duties. And his commentary cameo even featured a signature 'goalgasm' when Matt Smith headed the hosts into a shock lead at the Peninsula Stadium.
Luke Garbutt's cross put it on a plate for 6'6" Smith to nod just inside Karl Darlow's post, sending the Salford faithful into raptures. And Neville might have had the wildest reaction of all, letting out an emphatic cry that verged on the uncomfortable.

From the same man who gushed over Fernando Torres' 91st-minute equaliser against Barcelona in the 2012 Champions League finals, Neville's moans have become something of a trademark over the years. Leeds eventually levelled through Pascal Struijk but couldn't avoid being dumped out of the League Cup via penalties.
"Salford lead Leeds — and Gary Neville is very happy," remarked one spectator struggling to believe their ears. "Gary Neville's having fun," chirped another.
However, some supporters were more concerned with the fact the ex-England full-back had been allowed to commentate on a game so close to his heart.
What's Gary Neville's most iconic commentary moment of all time? Let us know in the comments section below.
"It’s not dodgy, just get somebody else to do it," replied one concerned customer.
"Is having Gary on co-comms not a conflict of interest a bit," asked a second.
Another fan had already drawn up their dream plans for revenge and wrote: "Don't you just wish that Salford draw Man City in the FA Cup in January and get absolutely annihilated?!!"

Neil Wood's side will have a chance at locking down a date against England's elite in the next round as the Premier League giants enter the fray. And Neville would have a real crisis of faith on his hands if Salford were to draw former employers Man United.
It's up for debate as to which of the two clubs would get a bigger rise out of the pundit if they were to score at the Peninsula, testing his loyalties to the limit. Then again, at the risk of facing further scrutiny from viewers, that might be one fixture Neville's better off avoiding if televised.
