Liverpool legend and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard now knows why Jurgen Klopp always gave him the same advice on management.
The Englishman has guided the Ibrox side to a first Scottish Premiership title for 10 years, only two games away from an unbeaten league season.
It has taken three years at the club to achieve it, having come second for the previous two years.
And it has seen Gerrard, who worked a youth coach at Liverpool under Klopp in 2017, now understand a piece of advice the German gave him.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Liverpool legend said: “I remember having a conversation with Jurgen Klopp, before I even took this role, about management.
“I asked him ‘what are some of the key things you can tell me that will help me moving forwards’.
“And he always told me to try to be as balanced as I can. Now, I know exactly why he said that.”
Gerrard took on the job at Rangers as his first managerial position following his time with the Reds academy.
His first season ended nine points behind rivals Celtic, failing to reach the finals of the League Cup or Scottish Cup.
While their Europa League campaign ended at the Group Stages with one win, having qualified from the first round.
The next season brought improvement in the League Cup, losing the final to Celtic, and a round-of-16 European loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
But they were 13 points off their Old Firm rivals before Covid-19 suspended the 2019/20 league campaign.
Despite struggles in the cup competitions this season, including a controversial Europa League round-of-16 clash with Slavia Prague, they are 23 points clear of their Scottish rivals.

And Gerrard wants to add to that success, continuing: “I’ll analyse this season when the time’s right in a couple of weeks’ time.
“But I’ll reset myself to make this team as competitive as we can going forward.
“I’m as ambitious as anyone connected to this club. I want to try and get this club Champions League football, I want to defend the title with our life and put the cup form right – that doesn’t sit well with me.
“I want to come back in preseason with a fair chance of being successful, that’s all I ask for.”
