The continuing saga over Gini Wijnaldum is reportedly having a negative impact on Barcelona’s other transfer business, with ‘three or four’ deals being held up. Wijnaldum is leaving Liverpool after a highly successful five years on Merseyside.
The Dutchman became a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side, helping them to win the Champions League and Premier League in successive seasons.
He continued to play an important role for the Reds last season, making more than 50 appearances in all competitions and regularly captaining the side.
But despite clearly still being viewed highly by Klopp, Wijnaldum has now called time on his spell at Anfield, after failing to agree a new contract.
Barcelona appear to be the frontrunners for his signature, as Ronald Koeman’s men look to rebuild their squad.

Wijnaldum would add immediate quality to a Barca squad that endured a disappointing season in La Liga and the Champions League.
But they are now facing competition from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who Sport claim have tabled a ‘powerful’ offer.
The Catalan side have already given Wijnaldum their own contract offer, with the club not considering upgrading it.
Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in making a move for the former Liverpool man, though they are behind PSG and Barca.

Barcelona’s goal remains bringing Wijnaldum to the Nou Camp and they are ready to step up their pursuit.
Koeman is personally involved in the attempt to sign Wijnaldum, with the player’s former national team boss attempting to convince him of the club’s project.
Barca hope that Koeman’s time as Wijnaldum’s manager with the Dutch national team can tip the balance in their favour.
The Spanish giants a set to meet with the midfielder’s representatives this week, with Sport reporting the club are ‘hopeful’ a conclusion can be drawn.
It would already be the third such meeting between Wijnaldum’s agents and Barca with the saga continuing to drag on.
But the length of time it is taking to bring Wijnaldum to La Liga is already affecting the club’s ability conduct the rest of their business.
Sport state that they are waiting for a resolution “for better or worse” before focusing on the rest of their overhaul.
They hope to move on at least three or four players before the end of the month before then returning to recruitment.
