Arsenal’s reported interest in Guido Rodriguez this summer could make life difficult for a number of the first-team squad at the Emirates. Real Betis midfielder Rodriguez is reportedly a top target for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
Rodriguez only joined Betis from Mexican side Club America last year but has seemingly already impressed Arteta with his performances in La Liga.
The 26-year-old has started 24 league matches this season, predominantly in defensive midfield.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim Arsenal will push hard to sign Rodriguez, who has a release clause of around £69million in his contract.
But his arrival at the Emirates would mean less action for a few current midfielders on the first-team payroll.

Xhaka and Thomas Partey have been Arteta’s preferred midfield pairing this season when both players have been available.
But it would surely be the Switzerland international who would have to make way if Rodriguez was brought in.
Xhaka has failed to completely win over the hearts of supporters with his performances despite an improvement under Arteta.
His fifth season as a regular starter at the Emirates may end up being his last.

Elneny is unlikely to ever be a regular in the Arsenal starting XI.
However, his chances would diminish even further with the arrival of Rodriguez.
Elneny has made 31 appearances so far this season so is viewed as reliable by Arteta.
However, Arsenal need more than what the Egyptian brings and he could be shunted down the pecking order.
Ceballos’ hopes of a permanent move to Arsenal would all be ended if Rodriguez signed for the club.
Ceballos has struggled for game time of late in what is now his second season on loan in north London.
Arteta has had nothing but praise for the Spaniard when he has spoken about him to the press.
However, the lack of game time is telling and Ceballos would be better off elsewhere next season as Rodriguez would make his chances even slimmer.
Rodriguez’s arrival would essentially signal the end of Torreira’s time at Arsenal.
The Uruguayan was a fan favourite following his arrival in 2018 but fell out of favour under Arteta.
His loan spell at Atletico Madrid has not been successful but his long-term future doesn’t appear to be at Arsenal either.
