Tottenham could have a very different line-up next season if they land Nuno as their manager with Fabio Paratici prepared to work with Jorge Mendes. With some big transfers already planned, Spurs are taking a big gamble.
Nuno is closing in on becoming the next Tottenham manager after a long search to replace Jose Mourinho.
The Special One was sacked in April and Spurs have been going round the houses looking for someone to fill in their managerial position.
They made Julian Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag top choices but all turned down the role.
That led to a wider net being spread while the arrival of former Juventus director Paratici was supposed to ease the burden.
But failed attempts followed over pursuits to land Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca, Julen Lopetegui and Gennaro Gattuso.
Now it appears Nuno is set to be appointed after he left Wolves last season, whose agent Mendes is set to be involved in transfers going forward.
At the Molineux, the super agent had a massive impact – bringing in countless Portuguese stars that have had an overall good effect on the club.
Tottenham have some areas of concern in the summer transfer window with plenty of players eyeing the exit door.
The biggest worry will be that of Harry Kane, who is desperate to leave amid strong interest from Manchester City.
It would, therefore, be no surprise to see a player such as Raul Jimenez arrive to soften any potential blow.
The Mexico international has had a tough year after fracturing his skull but his talent is undoubted and would suit the lone-striker role at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Ruben Neves is looking to leave Wolves this summer and Arsenal are interested but Spurs could easily swoop in for the midfielder with Mendes and Nuno pulling the strings.
The former Porto star is another who has not had his best campaign but his set-piece delivery would be ideal for the north London club while also bolstering a threadbare midfield.
Tottenham fans have been infuriated by the club’s progress over the last two seasons and believe they have gone back a step after sacking Mauricio Pochettino.
Daniel Levy knows he needs a marquee signing or two and Mendes could provide the answer with a pair of his clients.
Sorry to raid on Wolves again but Pedro Neto has incredible potential and would give that much-needed zip Tottenham need in their play.
And the second could be Andre Silva, who has just outscored Erling Haaland in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt.
A number of clubs are eyeing the Portugal international but Nuno could persuade the ex-AC Milan ace.
The fifth and final arrival would have to be a right-back, with Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty failing to impress and another Mendes client could be on the move.
Ricardo Pereira remains an important player at Leicester but the likes of Timothy Castagne and James Justin could easily fill the void while the ex-Porto star has been rumoured to want a departure in the past.
Tottenham XI: Lloris; Pereira, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Neves, Alli, Neto; Silva, Jimenez.
