Jadon Sancho missed England's final training session ahead of their warm-up match with Austria on Tuesday morning with a 'mild throat infection'.
Sancho wasn't the only star missing, and Manchester United's Mason Greenwood has been forced to pull out of the upcoming tournament with an injury.
The 21-year-old has been quietly brilliant for Borussia Dortmund this season, and he has racked up eight goals – with another two in Europe – and 11 assists in the Bundesliga this campaign.
The Dortmund winger has forced himself into Southgate's plans, however, his fitness levels may be questioned should he miss a significant amount of training.
Sancho was a shoo-in for the squad, but not everybody was convinced: "Jadon Sancho is playing at a really high level and his numbers are off the scale with Borussia Dortmund.
"I've just never been fully convinced in an England shirt yet and, with the emergence of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish as part of the front three, someone had to miss out," Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports.
Foden and Grealish represent narrower options for Southgate, and Sancho and – his former teammate – Raheem Sterling offer width.
However, with Sterling's poor form, Southgate may opt for the inverted wingers.
And Sancho won't just have an eye for the Euros, with The Daily Express reporting a United bid for Sancho could be launched today.
The Red Devils have spent the last four years trying to woo Sancho to Old Trafford, and this summer they look set to finally land their man.
