James Rodriguez once took his Bayern Munich out on an all-night booze marathon that did not finish until the next morning – against his manager's wishes.

Details have come to light over the environment at the Bavarian club that ultimately led to Niko Kovac's demise.

The Croatian boss was looking to stamp his authority on the star-studded squad that he inherited from long-time favourite Jupp Heynckes in 2018.

According to Bild, Bayern's pre-season plans were hijacked by the players in an all-out revolt after being disgruntled with their new coach.

The team had been put through their paces in Miami with some gruelling training sessions to get them up to steam ahead of the new season.

And for their efforts, the squad thought they would be rewarded with one free night – only for Kovac to cancel the plans.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss reportedly said: “Nobody goes out!”

“We have an incredibly important test game in three days.

“We have to be focused and concentrated. The first Bundesliga game awaits us in six weeks. Celebrating is not possible in preparation.”

But that did little to deter a group of mutineers, that included Rafinha, Frank Ribery and David Alaba – who created a WhatsApp group called 'Miami Nights'.

As they left the team hotel, they were even spotted by Kovac's assistant manager and brother Robert.

While out boozing, Rodriguez's party side came out and led the night out in the Florida city before staggering back in at 6am, Bild further report.

The playmaker filmed much of the evening before sending it to the WhatsApp group.

After such strict orders from their manager not to go out, the players expected a tongue-lashing but were shocked when Kovac did not say a word.

Bild go on to report that this was the moment that the squad lost respect for him and started his ultimate demise.

Rodriguez, who was on loan at the Allianz Arena, would not hang around and returned to Real Madrid but it did not go to plan there either.

A free transfer would follow to Everton under Carlo Ancelotti but the Italian's departure sparked the Colombian's own and he signed for Qatari side Al-Rayyan in September.
