With the international break drawing to a close and club football coming back into the foreground, Arsenal continue to work behind the scenes to build a squad capable of closing the gap to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
One position in great need of attention is central midfield. The Gunners have lacked creativity so far this term and will hope to solve that in the January transfer window.
Fortunately, for Arsenal, there is a promising update on one of the brightest young creative midfielders in Europe who has been linked with a move to the Emirates.
We also have the details on a potentially dramatic swap deal that could solve Arsenal’s problems, while there is an insight into the decision-making process of the club’s marquee summer signing.
Here is a round-up of the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.
Marsch expects Szoboszlai departure in January
Red Bull Salzburg manager Jesse Marsh believes Arsenal target Dominik Szoboszlai will move in the January transfer window.
The Hungarian midfielder has established himself as one of the most talented young players in Europe over the past 18 months.
This season, he already has one goal and five assists to his name from seven league outings. This follows nine goals and ten assists in 27 league games last term.
And that form is why Marsch expects Szoboszlai will leave the Austrian champions in January, with a host of clubs linked with a transfer.
“Yes,” Marsh told the Futbol Podcast when asked about whether the 20-year-old would leave in January. “The reality is that a guy like Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to have many suitors this winter.
“He’s an incredible talent, and I say this: When you coach young players, you have to love them and love the fact that they’re going to move on and love that they’re going to have big opportunities to prove themselves and show how good they are.”
Arsenal offered Xhaka-Eriksen swap
Arsenal could enact a swap deal involving Granit Xhaka and Christian Eriksen, per reports in Italy, with Inter Milan manager, Antonio Conte, keen to sign a defensive midfielder.
Eriksen joined Inter last January from Tottenham Hotspur but has struggled to earn regular minutes this season. And, per Corriere dello Sport, via Francesco Porzio, the Denmark creator could be put up for sale this winter as the Italian side look to recoup the £17 million they spent a year prior.
One reported option is a swap deal involving Xhaka. The Swiss international is said to be viewed as a potential alternative to first-choice holding midfield target N’Golo Kante.
Meanwhile, Arsenal need a creative midfielder with Mesut Ozil jettisoned from the first-team squad. Xhaka has dropped out of the starting XI in recent weeks following the arrival of Thomas Partey, though Mikel Arteta has leaned on him heavily throughout his tenure in north London.

Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed he urged Thomas Partey to sign with Arsenal over Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.
Partey made the move to Arsenal this summer, and Adebayor, who played for Arsenal, Manchester City, and Spurs, admits he advised the midfielder to choose the north London club.
“He told me that some clubs in England, namely Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and others have shown interest in him and he needs advice,” Adebayor said at an event in Ghana.
“I advised him to go to Arsenal because I have had the opportunity to play there and I think it will be good for his development.
“Arsenal is more than a club, it is a family and I’m impressed with his performances so far in the Premier League.”
