Jesse Lingard praised the reception he received from West Ham fans as he returned to the London Stadium with Manchester United.
The midfielder scored the winner against the side who he spent half of last season on loan with, as he curled a great shot into the top right corner.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Lingard expressed his delight of making amends for his costly mistake in the midweek defeat to Young Boys in the Champions League.
He said: "Over the moon. Got a brilliant reception when I came on, had a good time at West Ham but got to move on with Man United and do my best.
“As I said I’ve been working hard. To overcome last week wasn’t easy but to get minutes and score is brilliant.
"Mistakes happen in football and that’s one of the only mistakes I’ve made my career in football, but you’ve got to overcome them, things happen and bounce back."
So far this season, Lingard has scored twice in three Premier League appearances, as he looks like a strong option from the bench.
After the 2-1 victory at the London Stadium, United remain unbeaten in the Premier League, with four wins and one draw.
The Hammers had taken the lead in the first half through a deflected Said Benrahma shot, before Cristiano Ronaldo scored the equaliser.
Despite taking the lead in the 89th minute, the final moments of the game were still tense for the visitors, as David Moyes’ side were awarded a penalty after a Luke Shaw handball.
David De Gea continued his heroics this season to save the spot kick by Mark Noble, who had come off the bench specifically to take it.
Before coming off the bench, Lingard had received a positive response from the West Ham fans whilst he was warming up.
