John Terry single out Mason Mount for special praise during Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Sunday.
Mount scored Chelsea’s opener in the first half but Sheffield United pulled level through Antonio Rudiger’s own goal.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were able to go back in front as Jorginho converted a penalty after Aaron Ramsdale brought down Timo Werner.
Mount now has three goals in the Premier League this season, while the win has put Tuchel’s fifth in the Premier league and a point behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
Terry was keeping a close eye on his former club on Sunday evening and during the second half, the ex-Chelsea captain was clearly impressed with Mount’s display.
In a post on Instagram, Terry wrote: ‘Mason Mount what a player. How have the commentators not even mentioned this.’
Tuchel, meanwhile, praised his Chelsea players for their response to ‘difficult moments’ in the win over Sheffield United.
‘You arrive in Sheffield in February and it’s waiting for you,’ said the Chelsea manager.
‘It feels like a cup game when you arrive against a team full of energy and courage. Against a very direct and physical team, you have to accept that not all moments in the game are easy and we accepted that, which was good.
‘We had some difficult moments to overcome, we were lucky with the penalty not to be 1-0 down, but in general it was a deserved win and I’m happy for that because from here we can build confidence.’
