Jurgen Klopp taunted by Richarlison during Tottenham loss as new details emerge
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou said he has never been a fan of VAR after their 2-1 win over Liverpool
Tottenham star Richarlison and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp were involved in an ongoing verbal war of words during Saturday’s feisty Premier League clash, it has been claimed. Former Everton forward Richarlison was allegedly seen frequently going across to Klopp to exchange trash talk the German.
The Brazilian was key to Spurs’ 2-1 controversial victory over Liverpool, providing the assist for Son Heung-min to open the scoring. The Reds went on to have several key decisions go against them before Joel Matip scored a last-minute own goal.
However, onlookers noticed tension between Spurs ace Richarlison and Liverpool boss Klopp throughout the game. The 26-year-old was often seen exchanging words with the opposition manager.
On one occasion, it is claimed that Richarlison and Klopp went ‘back and forth’ after an innocuous foul near the dugouts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. There was then a moment after Curtis Jones’s dismissal where Richarlison confronted Klopp again.

According to Football.London, Richarlison constantly ‘going at’ Klopp prompted Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou to intervene. The Australian was apparently seen ushering the attacker away from the touchline to ensure he did not get into trouble.
Liverpool felt hard done by after at least three decisions went against them. Jones’s red card for a challenge on Yves Bissouma was controversial and the Reds have appealed the decision, which was made following a VAR intervention.
An incredible error then saw VAR official Darren English rule out a Luis Diaz strike for offside despite the Liverpool forward being onside. Diogo Jota was later shown a second yellow card despite his first booking being harshly awarded.

“The first red card, Curtis [Jones] steps on the ball and goes over. Not a bad tackle. It looks different in slow motion. He steps full throttle on the ball and goes over the ball. That is unlucky,” Klopp reflected.
“[For Diogo Jota] first yellow was not a yellow. Then he gets a second and to defend with nine players is tricky.”
On Diaz’s ruled-out goal, the Liverpool boss added: “The offside goal. That is not offside when you see it, they drew their lines wrong. The ball is between Mo’s legs, they drew the line wrong and didn’t judge the moment when Mo passed the ball right. It is so tough to deal with it.”
