Juventus bag former Tottenham target Gleison Bremer from Torino for £45m to fill defensive void left by departures of Matthijs de Ligt and Giorgio Chiellini, with the Brazilian signing a five-year deal
- Juventus have signed Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer for £45million
- The 25-year-old has joined from Serie A rivals Torino on a five-year contract
- Defender will replace Matthijs de Ligt, who signed for Bayern Munich this week
- Bremer was linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the summer window
Juventus have confirmed the signing of Gleison Bremer, who has joined the club from Serie A rivals Torino for a fee worth around £45million.
The 25-year-old centre-back was one of the standout performers in Italy last season and had been attracting notable interest during the summer transfer window.
Inter Milan had long been linked with the Brazilian and earlier this month it was reported Tottenham were keen on bringing him in to bolster their backline, which would have linked Bremer up with fellow countryman Richarlison.

However, with Juventus’ funds boosted by the sale of Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich, the club were able to outbid their rivals and bring the defender to Turin.
Juventus have secured deal for an initial fee of £34.9million for the defender, rising to £45million in possible add-ons.
Bremer has signed a five-year contract that will see him earn around £4.3million per season, working out at roughly £82k a week.

Juventus needed to bolster their backline following the sale of Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern
The signing of Bremer brings manager Massimiliano Allegri some much needed reinforcement in Juventus’ backline following the departures of De Ligt and Giorgio Chiellini.
Club legend Chiellini moved to LAFC after his contract with Juventus expired, while Dutch star De Ligt moved to Bayern Munich in a £68million deal earlier this week.
In Bremer they’ve signed a defender with plenty of Serie A experience, having signed for Torino in 2018 and gone on to play 110 games for the club during his four-year spell.
Juventus have been very active this summer, also bringing Paul Pogba back to the club for free
Bremer’s arrival continues Juventus summer recruitment that has seen them bring Paul Pogba back to the club following his release from Manchester United, as well as securing Angel Di Maria on free from PSG.
Pogba departed the club to re-sign for United in a then-world-record £89million deal back in 2016, only to return free of charge six years later.
The Italian giants have also wrapped up a £34million deal with Fiorentina for Federico Chiesa and signed defender Andrea Cambiaso from Genoa.
