Kai Havertz issued Eden Hazard transfer advice and given Premier League warning

Kai Havertz should snub any potential bids from Manchester United of Liverpool this summer, because he needs to bulk up and put on more muscle before he makes the move to the Premier League. That’s the opinion of former United forward Dimitar Berbatov, who believes that Chelsea would need to give the attacker time if they sign him as Eden Hazard’s replacement.

Havertz continues to be linked with a move to England.

The Bayer Leverkusen playmaker returned to action on Monday as the Bundesliga resumed after the coronavirus pandemic, and immediately made an impression.

He scored two headers in Leverkusen’s 4-1 win over Werder Bremen, and put in a solid performance to pick up where he left off before the break.

The 20-year-old was likely being watched by multiple scouts, as he has been heavily tipped to move to the Premier League this summer.

Chelsea, United and Liverpool have all been linked with the attacker, who is valued at £90million by Leverkusen.

But Berbatov thinks he needs to take some time before moving to England, because he would struggle to play against bigger defenders in England.

He explained in his Betfair column that if Chelsea make a move to sign him as a replacement for Hazard, they would need to be patient and give him time to adapt to the league.

Berbatov did, however, state that Havertz has the ability to succeed in the Premier League once he eventually heads to England.

“He has enough quality and if he continues the way he is going teams will still be there, they won’t go away,” he wrote.

“All eyes are on the Bundesliga at the moment and when you score goals and play good football it is no surprise that teams like Liverpool want you.

“I would like to see Havertz in the Premier League at some point, but not right now.

“I think it is a bit too early for him, I want to see him play more games, score more goals and get more confidence and maturity.

“I also think he will need a bit more muscle to play in the Premier League, we all know how defenders can squash you and smash you into pieces and you need to be ready for that if you are going to hit the ground running in such a demanding league.

“I think he should stay at Leverkusen and develop even more and get that experience which will help him for when the time comes to go somewhere else.

“I think it is interesting to see Chelsea linked with him, they haven’t really replaced Hazard since he left and it was always going to be difficult to do so.

“I think for sure they need to go for a young player with a lot of football ahead of them, if that is the case then they will also have to be patient as well because sometimes young players need time to adjust to the physicality and speed of Premier League.”
