Kalvin Phillips should join Liverpool, not Manchester United.
But I don't think he takes either of those teams to another level. He's a good player who would play every week whichever one he signs for. But not a gamechanger.
If he goes to Anfield he will still be remembered as a Leeds United hero. But if he goes to Old Trafford that all goes out the window.
And a Leeds United player going to Manchester United? Wow. Better start well! That's pressure.
It all depends who the manager is by then as well. United are miles behind Liverpool. Unless they change the manager, he's not winning trophies there.
I think he plays every week for either club, personally. But I don't think it will just be those two teams after him.
If Leeds sell him next summer there will be an auction.
But I honestly believe United should be trying to get Declan Rice from West Ham instead. I would be trying my hardest to get him.
I'm not saying Rice is a better player but he's a different kind of player. A proper holding midfielder. And that's what United are crying out for. Rice ticks that box.
With Phillips I think he'd suit Liverpool more than United. And if they are paying big money for him I don't see Jordan Henderson playing every week.
I'm not saying that would be the end of Henderson. He's a good pro. Never lets you down. But he's not getting any younger.
I think Phillips could learn from having him around. I think Phillips would become a much better player at Liverpool.
At Leeds he will get burnt out. I think he's virtually left on his own too much in midfield at Leeds and he has to do everything.
It won't be like that for him at Liverpool. But at United? Who knows? United's midfield is a problem.
And if they're going to let Paul Pogba see out his contract, I'd let him go in January. You can't have him hanging around.
If you don't want him at the club then just let him go as soon as possible. He's too big a personality to have not playing. Cut your ties.
Why hasn't it worked? He played in a dominant Juventus team where everything was easy. He hasn't had it easy at United.
When he plays for France it's different. He has top-drawer midfielders all around him and world class forwards ahead of him.
He's the only who can tell you why he hasn't better. He hasn't turned up for so many big games for United.
People say he hasn't been played in the right position at United but if you're a top player and a World Cup winner, you should be flexible.
Newcastle should snub Paulo Fonseca and go all out for Rafa Benitez
Newcastle should push the boat out and bring Rafa Benitez back to the club.
I've said before. They are in trouble. They need a firefighter who knows the league and can keep them up – and Benitez would do that.
They're talking about Paulo Fonseca? Wow. He just got the sack for Jose Mourinho. How long would it take him to get to know the players and the league?
Benitez knows them all already – and is massively popular with the fans.
If you're the new owners and you've got all the money in the world and you want to listen to the fans, just go to Everton and offer them loads of money for Benitez.
You need the fans on your side or you've got no chance. Get Rafa back. Give him a long contract and go from there.
He won't be trying to entertain but he will make sure they get results. That's what they need. They need to stay up!
Newcastle won't be making big name signings in January. But if they stay up they can start to build for next season because Rafa can get big players in.
Carabao Cup now a free-for-all so big clubs should play strongest XIs
Manchester City going out of the Carabao Cup is a massive incentive for everyone to play their strongest teams for the rest of the tournament.
I'd like to think that all those sides will go strong now. I'd be very disappointed if I was a fan of any team left in it and I turned up for the next round and my club was making changes.
West Ham haven't won a trophy since 1980! You've got to have a go now. It's almost a once in a lifetime opportunity for some of these teams.
No City in a competition they've dominated for so long. It was getting very predictable. City have been winning it with their reserves.
People say it's not an important competition. But come the final, everybody wants to be walking out at Wembley in it.
What has David Moyes won? A Community Shield? This is a massive opportunity for him to finally put a big trophy on his CV.
He changed almost his all team against City though. You can't win this cup doing that. Go full pelt. You've just knocked out both Manchester clubs. Why wouldn't you go for it now?
You'd have to say Chelsea are probably favourites though, and winning another trophy would take some pressure off Thomas Tuchel because they expect big things this season.
