Khabib shows off football skills as Ronaldo gives approval to career change

Brazilian phenomenon Ronaldo sent praise in the direction of retired UFC superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov who uploaded his footballing efforts to Instagram.

Khabib called time on his career in the octagon earlier this year, signing off with an impeccable 29 wins and zero defeats record.

At the time of his retirement earlier this year, Khabib was ranked number 1 in the UFC's pound-for-pound rankings, the 32-year-old bowing out at the top of his game after establishing himself as one of the most dominant fighters in MMA history.

He is clearly enjoying his retirement as his latest Instagram post displayed the Russian fighter enjoying a spirited game of football with his friends, where he proved he clearly has as much talent at his feet than he does with his fists.

Running at full-speed, Khabib rounded the onrushing amateur goalkeeper to then calmly slot home, before he compared his efforts to that of Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldo.

The short clip was accompanied by a caption that read, when translated to English: "Who remembers @ronaldo in 2008 low scoring but still with the gunpowder."

He went on to mention a local football club in his home country, jokingly implying he will make the transition into football should they want him to.

"@fc_legion_05 I need motivation bro."

After name dropping the striker in the caption, Khabib would been delighted to see the former Real Madrid and Barcelona star praise him in the comment section.

The Brazilian international responded to Khabib's delightful finish with eight laughing emojis, though he wasn't the only football star to laud his efforts.

Former AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf complimented the strike with multiple 'applauding' emojis.

Khabib retired in March 2021, when he still boasted the record of the longest-reigning UFC lightweight champion until the final bout of his career.
