North Wales side Clwb Pel Droed Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Football Club have joined forces with La Liga to aid their promotion push.

The fifth-tier outfit, also known as CPD Llanfairpwll, will wear La Liga branding on their home and away shirts in a partnership that promises to benefit the local community.

The full name of their town, on the island of Anglesey off the north west coast of Wales, contains 55 characters including five double Ls – leading to a perfect branding opportunity with a new town sign.

The partnership has been formed as part of La Liga's Power of Our Futbol campaign, which pledges to work on a range of initiatives across North Wales and beyond.

Last season’s top goalscorer Marquis Holland was on hand to model the new kit alongside his colleagues, a year before the club celebrate their 125th anniversary.

La Liga's new visual identity was brought in over the summer and aims to bring new life to the brand as they work to extend grassroots support to the UK.

Llanfairpwll currently play in the fifth tier of Welsh football, with a local community of 3,000 people to cheer them on at the Maes Eilian (Eilian's Field) ground.

Samantha Jones-Smith, CPD Llanfairpwll FC chairwoman, said: "This really is an outstanding partnership for us.

"Not only is it the most exciting collaboration the club has ever had, but it also allows us to improve both on and off the field.

"Securing a front of shirt partner of this level is of vital importance, and with La Liga's long-standing history of footballing excellence, we have a fantastic partner to join us on our journey."

    £29.99 a month

The home of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid alongside their rival clubs has more than 200 million followers across 16 social media platforms.

The division was founded back in 1929 and their representatives have won 19 of the 71 European Cups to have been contested as of 2023.

The humble honours at Llanfairpwll's Eilian's Field include two Welsh Alliance League championships as well as seven Anglesey Leagues.

Keegan Pierce, managing director in UK & Ireland for LaLiga, added: “We’re hugely passionate about spreading "The Power of Our Futbol" around the globe.

"La Liga is about so much more than football in Spain – it is the largest football ecosystem in the world, watched and enjoyed by millions.

"With our new brand positioning coming into effect this year, this partnership is a great way to bring to life our new ‘LL’ visual identity in a creative way, while enabling us to further extend our grassroots support across the UK."
