Kalvin Phillips sustained a head injury and needed treatment after an accident in a London nightclub, according to reports.

Following Leeds’ 2-1 loss to Tottenham on Sunday, the squad reportedly visited Cirque Le Soir, a circus-themed nightclub in Soho for a Christmas bash.

According to The Telegraph, the holding midfielder bashed his head and was treated for what was called a "graze that caused a cut".

Following the evening, it's said the 25-year-old was assessed by Leeds’ club doctor who passed fit him fit to train as scheduled on Tuesday.

Marcelo Bielsa will still have one of his most prized assets when Leeds travel to Brighton on Saturday, it is understood.

The manager is understood to have allowed the players to head out for a night on the town on Sunday.

Given the congested fixture list the side has, it was the only weekend in which the players were able to enjoy the festive season together.

Phillips was one of the Yorkshire side's best players during their first season back in the Premier League. His campaign earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2020 over the summer, where he thoroughly impressed again, and was voted England’s player-of-the-year for 2021.

Following Leeds’ defeat at Spurs, Phillips spoke about his performance in playing as part of a back-three.

He said after the game: "To be honest I don't know why he did it.

"We wanted to be more defensive with their attacking threat of both Harry [Kane] and Son.

"So we had Diego [Llorente] on Son and me and Liam Cooper went man for man-marking.

"I think it worked well in the first half and even in parts in the second we did well against Harry."

Leeds sit 17th in the Premier League on just 11 points. Following their trip to the south coast, they have Crystal Palace and Brentford, in what will be huge games in deciding whether the side will be facing a fight for survival this season.
