Leicester City have discussed Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico as they assess replacements for Chelsea-bound Ben Chilwell.

The 27-year-old Argentine has a number of offers and would prefer to join a Champions League side but recognises Leicester’s status as a Premier League contender.

Tagliafico, capped 25 times for his country, arrived at Ajax in 2018 from Independiente.

He has since emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after left backs with his Ajax contract set to expire in 2022.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the Argentine. 

Leicester also want a new centre-back with Schalke defender Ozan Kabak among their targets.

The 20-year-old Turkey international could potentially team up with Caglar Soyuncu with Leicester wary that Jonny Evans could also leave this summer amid interest from Premier League rivals.

Leicester are close to finalising the £7million sale of Islam Slimani to French side Rennes while Luton Town are keen on a loan for Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
