Lionel Messi 's father gave a candid answer when mobbed by reporters in Barcelona as his son's future continues to dominate the headlines.
The 33-year-old Nou Camp icon is determined to leave the club this summer after a tumultuous 2020 under former manager Quique Setien.
New boss Ronald Koeman hasn't had the ideal start to life at Barcelona either, with Messi telling the board he sees his future away from the club.
The player's father and his representative is set for crisis talks with Catalan bosses this week – and was subsequently mobbed by reporters after arriving at Barcelona airport.
"I don't know anything, boys," he said as he was escorted through the crowd.
Messi snr was seen boarding a private jet yesterday, with some fans speculating he may have been Manchester-bound to discuss a deal with Manchester City.
The Argentinian forward continues to be linked with a move to the Etihad.
And City chief Txiki Begiristain has reportedly been in Spain recently to discuss a deal.
Barcelona are not giving on their star man without a fight – and a court case could be on the way.
Messi believes he can leave the club for a free due to an exit clause in his contract allowing him to depart on a free.
A condition detailed in his Barca deal reveals that the six-time Ballon d'Or winner could leave the club if he wanted to for nothing, but that expired in June.
Messi believes the clause should be extended due to the fact that the Covid-19 crisis has decimated the footballing calendar.
However, Barcelona insist that clause has now expired.
And publicly, the La Liga giants are refusing to be cowed into a cheap transfer or a free move.
"This is indeed a very important story, but our idea at the club is still to build a new winning cycle around the best player in the world," director Ramon Planes said last week.
"We are not contemplating any kind of departure because what we want is for Messi to stay.
“We only have enormous respect for Leo Messi.
