Liverpool are closing in on the surprise signing of Preston defender Ben Davies.
On Sunday, the Reds agreed a fee for around £2m for the centre-back.
Davies, 25, will undergo a medical on Monday before completing the move ahead of tonight's 11pm transfer deadline.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp has been chasing a centre-back after injuries to Joel Matip and Fabinho added to the long-term absences of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Davies is out of contract in the summer at Preston, and Liverpool have acted to pinch the defender from under Celtic's nose.
Klopp, though, refused to comment on transfer links to Davies at the London Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Liverpool boss was in a jubilant mood after his side cruised to a 3-1 victory over West Ham in the Premier League.
The German boss changed his tune on potential incoming deals over the last few days after Joel Matip and Fabinho joined Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the sidelines.
Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison asked: “I’m going to throw a name at you. Ben Davies? Preston?”
Klopp said in response: “Tottenham? Ben Davies as well? (Laughs) Nah nothing to say about that.”
Davison then pressed the manager and suggested: “But you’d like a centre-half still? And is it possible?”
Klopp replied: “I say it all the time, in our situation it makes sense.”
