Liverpool are reportedly back in contention to sign Watford forward Ismaila Sarr, a player they showed an interest in last summer. There was talk just under a year ago that Sadio Mane could play a key part in the transfer due to his close relationship with his compatriot, who impressed for the Hornets despite their relegation from the Premier League.
Yet Liverpool eventually opted for Diogo Jota over Sarr, a decision that paid off as the Portuguese international hit the ground running at Anfield.
Sarr helped fire Watford back to the top-flight by netting 13 goals in 39 appearances in the Championship, form that has attracted admirers once again.
90min claim Liverpool are back in contention for his services as they look to add another forward to their squad.
Jurgen Klopp needs attacking reinforcements with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane potentially set to depart for the Africa Cup on Nations in January.
It’s suggested that Watford have quoted the Reds £40million but with money tight at Anfield, the 2020/21 Premier League champions need to sell to raise cash.

However, that said, swap deals and player-plus-cash packages are now prevalent in the current market due to the financial constraints of the COVID-19 crisis.
Clubs are now more open than ever when negotiations are concerned and for that reason, Liverpool could look to include some of their deadwood or young players in potential deals.
This is all hypothetical of course but one player the Reds could look to include in any deal for Sarr is Divock Origi.
The Belgian international is still only 26 and has not yet reached his peak.

Origi knows how to score goals – important ones too – and with regular game time, he has what it takes to rack up a respectable tally.
Similarly to Sarr, he can also play both out wide and through the middle.
Xheran Shaqiri is another player who may appeal to Watford given his experience and quality.
The Swiss wants to get back to playing every week after being in and out of the Liverpool side in the past three years.
He could be the perfect makeweight in any deal for Sarr, while Harry Wilson is also an option.
Wilson is ready to leave Liverpool and Watford would be a great destination to kickstart his post-Anfield career.
The attacking midfielder has quality in abundance and his value could easily explode in the next few years, just like the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Jack Grealish and Mason Mount.
Marko Grujic is another player who may be of interest, as Liverpool prepare to offload the Serbian.
Sassuolo are in the mix with Porto for his services but the powerhouse midfielder has what it takes to play in the Premier League having impressed in Portugal last season.
He is believed to be valued around £15million, which could help Liverpool bring the price down.
Finally, Rhys Williams could be another player of interest to Watford after he impressed with the Reds last season.
His chances of more minutes will be slim following Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip’s return to fitness.
Furthermore, Ibrahima Konate has also arrived from RB Leipzig meaning Williams is way down the pecking order.
Yet in years to come, he could become a top defender and he more than held his own in the Premier League.
It’s unclear whether Watford would be open to the idea of a swap deal proposal for Sarr but Liverpool certainly have the ammunition to present an appealing offer…
