Liverpool ‘make contact’ with Marcelo Brozovic camp over £52m transfer
Liverpool have made initial contact with Marcelo Brozovic’s representatives, as Jurgen Klopp weighs up a move for the Inter Milan star.
The holding midfielder has been integral to Inter boss Antonio Conte’s plans this season, making 32 appearances and contributing three goals and five assists.
Brozovic has two years remaining on his deal at the San Siro but a rumoured release clause of £52m has attracted the European Champions’ attention.
And the Reds have made contact with Brozovic’s agent, Miroslav Bicanic, to establish initial information about a move, according to Milan-based newspaper Libero.
However, Inter are set to fight to keep the midfield stalwart and have responded to Liverpool ’s interest by offering him an improved contract which does not include a release clause.
Brozovic would bring more experience to an already stellar Reds midfield. He has made 51 appearances for Croatia, scoring six goals, and was part of the squad which reached the World Cup final in 2018.
During the semi-final victory over England, Brozovic played the full 120 minutes before featuring in the final defeat to France four days later.
Capable of playing in more advanced midfield roles, the former Dinamo Zagreb man excels in a holding capacity, where he is able to show off his array of passing.
