Liverpool have ramped up their efforts to sign Torino star Gleison Bremer ahead of Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli – despite the arrival of Ibrahima Konate during the summer. The defender would cost £21million.
Liverpool are the most active club trying to sign Bremer in the transfer window, ahead of Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli.
That is despite signing Konate in the summer from RB Leipzig for £36m, though he has yet to make much of an impression this season.
Jurgen Klopp was desperate to bring in a centre-back in the transfer window.
It followed after a season where Liverpool’s defence was ransacked by injuries last season that had a detrimental effect on their campaign.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both suffered a similar injury at the same time to end their seasons.
While Joel Matip followed not long after, leaving the Reds with rookie options Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams.
The arrival of Konate in the summer was meant to keep Liverpool from experiencing the same problems but has started just twice this term.
And Klopp is already looking at another defender, according to TMW, with Bremer on Liverpool’s shortlist.
The Torino star has long been eyed by clubs in Italy after a fine season last year.
Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli are all interested in the 24-year-old, who has two years left on his contract.
But TMW report that Liverpool have ramped up their efforts ahead of the Serie A clubs while the Brazilian has been valued at £21m.
Torino remain hopeful that Bremer will sign a new contract but will have to hand him a decent pay increase.
With so much interest growing in the defender, keeping hold of the former Atletico Mineiro ace could prove tricky.
